LG Google Nexus 5

The Nexus 5 is a smartphone developed and marketed by Google in conjunction with LG Electronics. The successor to the Nexus 4, the device is the fifth phone in the Google Nexus series, a family of consumer devices that use the Android operating system and are built by an original equipment manufacturer partner. The Nexus 5 was unveiled on October 31, 2013, and released for online orders on Google Play Store the same day.

The Nexus 5’s hardware is similar to that of the LG G2, with a Snapdragon 800 system-on-chip, a 4.95-inch 1080p screen. The Nexus 5 is also the first device to feature version 4.4 of Android, nicknamed “KitKat”.

Nexus 5

Thanks to a leaked service manual for the upcoming LG Nexus 5 that arrived over the weekend, there really is very little we don’t know about the phone outside of a release date and price. We continue to see references to both names here and there. But either way, we feel as if we have a pretty good grasp on all things new Nexus phone.

Google’s highly anticipated Nexus 5 flagship Android smartphone was briefly listed on Google’s Play Store, ahead of its expected release in the coming weeks.

The listing, which has since been pulled down, featured a US price of $349 (£215) for the 16GB version of the Nexus 5.

The Nexus 5 is expected to replace the popular Nexus 4 Android smartphone, which was the work of a partnership between LG and Google to make a high-end smartphone at an affordable price.

Official product shots of the Nexus 5 were also included, confirming a series of leaks and rumours that have surfaced within the last few months, including the replacement of the default Android SMS app with Google Hangouts, and a redesigned Gmail icon.

• A full video run-through of an alleged leaked prototype Nexus 5 device claimed to show the smartphone running Android “KeyLimePie”, which was recently renamed to Android 4.4 “Kitkat”
